As time progressed, the protagonists in my works wrestled, alongside me, with the multifaceted nature of values — discerning right from wrong, truth from illusion. These characters represent not only me but also you and the collective ‚us‘.
Confronted with questions about the repetitive nature of modern life and our own identities, we often find ourselves enveloped in a void. Yet, I believe that this perceived emptiness and the despair lurking in the shadows serve as a prelude to ultimate hope. I wished to highlight where the psychological tension stemming from these philosophical quandaries, concealed desires, daily anxieties, feelings of alienation as an outsider, yearnings for loved ones, and solitude amidst crowds might eventually lead.
By placing the self-portraits of unidentified, solitary modern individuals on the canvas and obscuring the background, my art captures both individuality and universality. I aimed to resonate with viewers by presenting commonplace yet strangely unfamiliar scenes, prompting reflection, inducing immersion, and paving the way for poetic interpretations.
The selectively introduced bold colors, brush strokes, or lines are intended to merge on the canvas, emphasizing a kind of mental and psychological reflection.
In terms of artistic expression, while grounded in the traditions of figurative painting, I’ve infused the spirituality of abstract art, creating a dreamy space to balance the existential unease and psychological calm of contemporary individuals. In some pieces, I deliberately halted midway through the process to retain the raw vibrancy of the artwork. The emotive language, characterized by deliberately subdued hues, low saturation, and matte finishes across the canvas, reflects a contemplative stance toward solitary objects.
